L.W.: “Russell's books should be bound in two colours, those dealing with mathematical logic in red—and all students of philosophy should read them; those dealing with ethics and politics in blue—and no one should be allowed to read them."
I’ve included Mencius who was a Chinese philosopher focused on Confucianism! There are few other Confucian philosophers (Wang Yangming) who I also enjoy the philosophy of but didn’t want to stray to far from just stating the bigger names for now. I do have some plans to write some dedicated pieces on this though, particularly the works of Wang Yangming who I leant towards most during my degree
Needed this so bad the past year of my degree! I know this is something that we shouldn't have toactively work on but I love how there's not JUST a focus old-timey European men
i must admit my fave reference to Asian philosophies is in the fictional take on Buddha is Herman Hesse's Siddhartha. It's also a great intro to eastern philoshopy.
Thank you for putting this together. I read Plato in college, and I’m going through it again. Coming across your post makes me want to review all of these.

Good Frege pick
Great list! Altho, i couldn’t help but notice that despite your post image, you don’t have a single Asian reference?

Great list, thanks for sharing.
Thanks for the list! I am studying philosophy in school, but I like to get a head start :)
Thank you so much peace
Hackett Publishing has a translation of Mencius (under the name Mengzi), paperback for $18. I have always had good luck with Hackett versions.

Saved for the morning coffee, hopefully my ADHD doesn’t make me forget lol
Good on you for covering both the past-present and east-west spectrum in such a small list.
This is so so helpful, thank you!!
Thank you for reading <3
